Five miles up in the Routt National Forest.
We've enjoyed a few days at Steamboat Lake State Park. This is Hahn's Peak which we can see from the campground.
We were thrilled to see and hear these beautiful sandhill cranes along the lake.
This is the cove near our campsite. The lake is very popular for all kinds of watersports.
There are an amazing amount of broad-tailed hummingbirds here!

This is a remote area of the Colorado River which we drove to and fished today. The fishing was not so great here but the ride through the mountains was very scenic.
This is the Colorado River near Kremmling, CO, which we fished twice with excellent results. Today I caught a beautiful, fat 14 inch brown trout on a #16 tan elk hair dry fly! The fish jumped and gave me quite a good fight. John caught many trout here the past 2 days and had lots of fun. They were rising like crazy this afternoon. The weather's been predictable here - warm and sunny in the mornings and windy, cloudy, rainy and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The first picture is a beaver pond near Timber Creek Campground on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Then we headed up to over 12,000 feet - the highest road in the U.S. The tundra flora and fauna are fascinating. The views are incredible. The air is pure, crisp and clean. You truly feel like you are on top of the world. That's where the elk were hanging out since it's still too hot for them at lower altitudes. We also saw ptarmigan, pikas and marmots.

What a happy boy!

Chrysanne, Kaj and Trenton in the playhouse.

Trenton enjoys watermelon on Irene's lap.

The grillmasters at work.

Jonathan, Len and Jim and a view of the patio.

Sheryl and Jim's 4th of July party was a huge success. Trenton had fun with second cousins Kaj, Chrysanne, Bryan and Peter and with friends Gabe and Katie.

Kaj enjoyed playing basketball and we were all thrilled to see 2 fawns in our backyard.

We've had a wonderful visit with Irene and Kaj. Kaj sure reminds us of Jason - he loves to watch and play sports and has limitless sports knowledge. Irene and I talked a lot, of course, shopped in Frenchtown and Milford, toured Holland Township and enjoyed some delicious food.
