Family Camping Trip

We sure had fun this weekend! We camped at Belleplain State Forest, near Woodbine, NJ, about 45 minutes from Wildwood and north of Cape May. It was hot and humid on Saturday but we still enjoyed a walk around the campground. Then we headed off to the zoo where we all enjoyed the animals. The Wildwood boardwalk was next where we saw antique cars and hot rods of all kinds.
Trenton is still trying to figure out if he likes rides but we think he had fun in the train, boat, and race car.

Sunday we visited The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor. The weather was just perfect.
Trenton enjoyed seeing turtles, fish, and birds and the octopus! This September family camping trip will now be an annual event to look forward to, in various locations.

Farmers Sportsmen's Pig Roast

We had a wonderful feast and fun at the pig roast today. It was cool and cloudy, comfortable with a sweatshirt on. Trenton was thrilled with his new toy - Curious George in a yellow airplane. He played with it for a while and then found out it had wheels and would spin and go like crazy on the driveway.
He ran after it, pointed and said, "Look, look!"
Trenton and Mommy say cheese. Grandma and Pop-pop Lacina were there, too. We played baseball, kickball and soccer with Trenton and we all got tired out from the fresh air and exercise. The food was delicious.
Watching Bob-The-Builder on Grandpa's computer before bathtime and a long drive home.

Trenton's showing us his new souvenir t-shirt which says "Grandpa thinks I'm a keeper."
We went to Monmouth University yesterday for a faculty BBQ and ground-breaking ceremony for the new Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC). Trenton had fun playing with the Hawk's mascot, Shadow. After a fantastic lunch we headed to the shore where we drove and walked all around Ocean Grove and the surrounding towns. We bought snacks at the big flea market, and walked the boardwalk up to Asbury Park and back, enjoying the ocean breeze while Trenton napped in his stroller. Ocean Grove has fascinating homes, unique architecture.
Trenton says "cheese" next to this huge fungus on MU's campus.
Wow, he can really yell "touchdown!"
Time for a story with Grandma. We celebrated my birthday and a great time was had by all. Thanks Jim and Sheryl :-)

We've had a wonderful time in Ohio with Jason. We enjoyed hiking in Mt. Airy Forest, doing about 5 miles on Saturday morning. The weather was excellent. John and Jason are looking at a deer - can you see it to the left of John's left shoulder? The deer were plentiful and unafraid. Jim will be running a 50k race here in October so we thought of him when taking the pic of the stone steps. We went down them but I'll bet the race will go up them! This isn't all of the steps, just the steepest part.
Jason's apartment is fantastic. His new dining room table and shelves are the perfect addition. I enjoyed swimming in the nice pool which his living room overlooks. We ate great meals at a Thai place; a sandwich/deli place; Italian food at Carraba's; bratwursts at Riverfest where we were once again thrilled by the fireworks; expensive food at the Reds-Mets ballgame; and to top it all off, an excellent barbeque at the campground on Labor Day. Thanks to Jason for a wonderful visit!
