Christmas 2012

Our Christmas celebrations were not the norm this year due to illnesses but we enjoyed the festivities as best we could. The tree looks so good, especially at night but it's never possible to get a good picture of it. The LED lights show up nice and bright in this pic without flash.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care.....
Lookin' good for church on Christmas Eve.
Our traditional photo of our favorite gifts. Jay has some new boots and a Hubble/space calendar. John is holding the book Jay gave him by coach John Wooden and the puzzle I gave him. Shutterfly turned one of his excellent elk in Rocky Mtn. N.P. pics into a jigsaw puzzle. I'm displaying a puzzle of Yellowstone and my new Kindle!!!
Then it was over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house we go, first getting stuck in a big traffic jam only 5 miles from her house. We were able to maneuver our way to a nearby exit and re-enter the highway north of the accident, making us only 45 minutes late. Texts to Carolyn kept her informed of our whereabouts. Mom's holding the calendar I made featuring pictures from our summer out west. We traveled to Carolyn's with Mom for a nice, relaxing and delicious Christmas dinner. We missed the grandkids, Jim and Sheryl but knew they had no choice but to stay home and recouperate.
Finally, two days later our celebration began but without a still ailing Sheryl. Trenton is so excited about his new hand-held video game. What great smiles! The Santa by Oliver's shoulder was mine 50 years ago!
The presents are all open and it's time to relax. It snowed on the 24th and again on the 26th so it was indeed a white Christmas.
