Big Pine Key

The coastline of the nature preserve at low tide.
Ibis feeding on crabs.
Rocky shoreline the other direction.
A Key deer crosses the road right in front of us! Much of Big Pine Key is preserved parkland because Key deer are endangered. A buck comes to drink water from a pan the man next to us provides and I hope to get its picture soon. They are much smaller than whitetail deer.
How'd that deer know to cross right by the sign?!

Visiting with Uncle Jack and Aunt Jinny

It was quite a thrill to see the manatees at Manatee Springs State Park.
Turtles basking on a log.
A cypress swamp.
A manatee coming up for air.
There were about 8 manatees here. Most of the time they were quiet but later they swam and frolicked a bit. We also saw mullet here. They jumped several feet out of the water, keeping us entertained.

Easter Sunday Family Gathering

If you look closely you'll see the tracks left behind by the Easter Bunny! The tracks went all around the house as did the eggs filled with surprises.
Trenton collected a full basket of goodies that the Easter Bunny (Aunt Carolyn and Chrysanne) left for him while he was napping this afternoon.
It was a fun, happy, family day.
Trenton enjoyed some M&Ms, a marshmellow bunny and a chocolate frosted cupcake! He also ate, as did we all: cornbread, salad, Greatgrandma's carrot-pineapple gelatin, ham, kielbasy, potato salad, coleslaw, and hot cross buns.
It was cold and sunny outside but warm and cozy inside.
Still in their church clothes. Trenton looked so grown up wearing a tie and dress shoes.

Trenton's 2nd birthday party

Trenton's 2nd birthday party was a huge success! The clubhouse proved to be the ideal place for a big party. All the little kids, their parents, some friends, and us 4 grandparents had a wonderful time. The food was healthy, varied and plentiful. The guests had cupcakes and Trenton had his very own cake and cupcake tower! The pictures tell quite a story - in his own words: In the picture above - Here comes my cake. I saw Mommy making it this morning and I've been looking forward to it all day!
It was easy to blow out the candle.
Mmmmm, my first bite.
Yea, this is fun. I'm just getting started.
Ok, that's one cupcake...
The blue cupcake can be next.
Yup, it's good, too.
Oh yea, green is next.
I'll just lick the yellow frosting
All done! Thanks Mommy and Daddy for letting me have my fill of birthday cake.
