Rainy, windy weather kept us at camp for many days this trip but when we were able to be on the water we had a wonderful time. We caught this 27-inch male brown trout on our first outing. It had a noticeable hook jaw. We don't fish in the harbor but it's a great place to take pics because it's protected from the wind.
On our next outing we caught this 23 3/4-incher. As you can tell by what I'm wearing, the temperature is quite chilly on the water. Since the water temp is in the 40s that's what you feel while sitting in the boat. Every morning the outside temp was around 40 degrees and it only warmed up to the 50s most days but we stayed warm with all our heavy clothes and long underwear.
This picture was taken with my cell phone as was the one above! We are pleased that it takes such good pics. These two big ones were lots of fun to catch.
I took my heavy jacket and wool hat off for the picture! I wore a baseball hat, a wool hat, a sweatshirt hood and my heavy jacket hood to keep warm. John wore a baseball cap ;-)
We were lucky one day, it was very calm because there was no wind early in the morning. This is how to catch a brown trout: put out a planer board (50 feet); put a stick bait lure on; let the line out 150 feet; clip the line to the planer board line; put 2 lines out the back (100 and 125 feet); troll at 2.2 mph and wait for the fish to bite! They were biting lightly, only touching the lures sometimes, and some days we didn't hook or lost many more than we caught. Sometimes they came off at the boat just out of reach of the net, very frustrating.
There are many gorgeous homes along the lake. Does anyone know what that is on the roof? We can't figure it out. It corresponds to a loft area, visible from the water straight on, but we don't know what it is.
This is, by far, the biggest, most elegant house that we troll by. Maybe it's Bill Gates' summer cottage!?

Just looks like an extension of the roof - maybe to make the ceiling higher in a second-floor bathroom, complete with skylight and exhaust fan?
