Excellent Fishing Day

Today is another day of winds over 15 mph, making it impossible for us to get out to where we want to fish but it's a great day to walk, take pics, food shop and go out to the best pub in the lower Keys for an early dinner. Above John is sitting on the eastern shore of the campground.
You might call this "millionaires' row"!
Every morning that we aren't fishing I've been taking the water aerobics class in the saltwater pool. It's heated to a toasty 85 degrees. The class is fun. There are lots of retirees here and many of the women come to class. It's a time to socialize and have the pool all to yourselves before the kids take over. The snowbirds have begun their exodus and we watch people hugging and kissing and saying goodbye until next winter.
See the front of our camper in the second row just to the left of the palm tree? We like our spot for its convenience to the pool, showers, laundry, and office/store but it's farther to our boat dock. The camp provides carts so you can lug your gear back and forth, so that's good for us.
We were thrilled to get out fishing yesterday and spent many hours on the water. John's holding a yellowtail, about average size for yesterday's catch. The winds were mostly 10-15 with some afternoon gusts and cloudbursts. It rains a few times a day, usually for 5 minutes, and we never got wet on the boat but camp got a downpour. We chummed to attract fish, caught our own bait and had a ball!! The yellowtail were plentiful and we caught, oh, maybe 40! John caught a cero mackeral, quite a miracle because they have sharp teeth. I had a yellowtail almost to the boat when out of the blue came a huge silver fish which ate the yellowtail right in front of me next to the boat! All that was left was the head. It was a thrill, to say the least. It severed that fish instantaneously, just image how razor sharp those teeth must be. I rethought my plan to go swimming off the boat after that!
The water is an incredible blue.
Relaxing at our site. It's set up so that we can be in the shade at any time of day, and, my goodness, you don't want to sit in the sun if at all possible.
This is where our boat is docked, not along millionaires' row.
A view of camp from around the corner near our boat dock.

Absolutely beautiful!! Mom, you can't blame that fish for biting a chunk out of the yellowtail - that's good sashimi! (At least the Japanese species is)

Is that a vacation goatee I see sprouting up??

Man, I am jealous! Looks like a ton of fun...and warm...and sunny...and relaxing! No photos of the mackrel? Probably cut the line rather than hoist it up, huh? Great blogging!
