We hiked about 4 miles in the Applachian Mountains of northern Georgia with my cousin Marybet and her husband, Hoppy. The weather was just right and the woods were beginning to come alive with colorful wildflowers and many shades of green leaves.
This was the easy part of the trail. It was much steeper later on.
This is a sessile trillium, one of many wildflowers we saw.
These are blood root. We also saw bluets, violets and chickweed.
Marybet and Bea lead the way back down. It was quite a treat to see Bea flush a grouse right next to the path. We'd never have seen this beautiful, wild bird if the dog wasn't with us.
Nice waterfall near the path.
They have camped in these woods many times.
