Our last morning was going so great, we were by Charlottesville, VA when the truck broke down. So, just like last year, we called Roadside Assistance and after a little over an hour the tow truck arrived. It felt like longer than that though, even though we were in a relatively safe place, just like last year. We were on the point of road where an incoming ramp (exit 12o on 64W) meets the highway. The nice young man was able to back the truck right up to us. We said there was no way he could put our rig up on the flatbed but he insisted. He said he could go around underpasses to get us to the Chevy dealer. Amazingly, it worked, but it was nerve-wracking, especially when he had to stop and eyeball a low crosswalk/overpass and then turn around! We sure had a nice tour of U. VA. At the dealer, also very nice people, they said they couldn't work on it in the truck bays since they were so busy but it could be done on the regular side if we took the camper off. They found a level spot in the parking lot for us. We took it off, had lunch, walked around, walked to Wal-Mart and had naps. The problem was with an injector connector. Amazingly, the repair was covered under our expired warranty! We were on our way again after a 6 hour delay. I called Irene and she knew exactly where we were, even where the low overpass was because she used to live and work right there. It was by far the longest travel day we've ever had - 14 hours. It rained, sometimes hard, the entire way home. This picture was taken with my cell phone. It's great to be home.Wednesday, April 22, 2009
